Attorney seeks freedom
for jailed Mary McVitty, 85
Jan. 13, 2010 — A Chambersburg attorney hopes to have Mary McVitty, the senior citizen jailed over a dispute with her neighbors, out of jail today, or at least by the end of the week.
Attorney Chris Sheffield filed a petition Tuesday afternoon in Franklin County Court, seeking an emergency hearing in McVitty’s probation violation case. The attorney is also asking the court to release her from jail pending that hearing.
